Andrew R.Gale

Aviation Safety First - Andrew R. Gale, Senior Advisor and Service Manager, IBM Southeast Asia Transportation

Abstract:

A safe environment is a key factor for the normal operation of airlines, airports and government agencies. The key to civil aviation safety is to rely on security procedures and uniform safety measures to identify high-risk passengers and enhance passenger safety confidence. In addition, airports and air companies need to share information in order to enhance aviation safety. Therefore, airlines also need to integrate ground systems, GDS systems and other applications. Especially when airline alliances are scaled up, system integration and information sharing are more important. IBM has extensive experience in assisting airline mergers and consolidation. Successful mergers and acquisitions that IBM has participated in integration include mergers between Delta and Western companies, Air Canada and Canadian mergers, and KLM and Northwest mergers. IBM proposed EAF (Enterprise Structure Framework Methodology) and EAF provided a structured platform. The goal of EAF is to analyze the current corporate structure, analyze the business development needs of the company, and develop sustainable IT.
